Every October the great producers of the McLaren Vale wine community prepare their most prized wines for judging at the annual McLaren Vale Wine Show – one of the most significant regional wine shows in Australia.
We were thrilled to have been a part of the show for another year, and last Friday at the Bushing King Luncheon we were delighted to have bestowed upon us some more fabulous accolades – the biggest of them all, the Bushing King Trophy for “Best Wine in Show”!
Our 2016 Cabernet Malbec was also gracefully awarded”International judges Wine of Show” and “Best Bordeaux Varietal Blend”!
“We have always tried to celebrate identity and place in wine, and not to shy away from the fact that we are a warm climate region in South Australia. I think that this is the most challenging part of making ‘true’ wine – recognising where and who you are, and trying to find the best expression of voice and accent for that region.” -Stephen Pannell
Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon from our Koomilya Vineyard and Malbec from the neighbouring Vineyard, this blend initially came about by chance, but Steve always had the desire to make a wine that paid homage to a favourite winery and blend, Wendouree Cabernet Malbec.
Dark cherries, rolling tobacco and freshly split red gum.
An embracing mouthfeel wound up in dusty tannins.
A wine compiled of texture and full of energy.
An honest and true example of McLaren Vale.
This wine expresses the Vineyards setting, landscape and soils.
